Meltdown at the Royal Festival Hall

As if playing Henley wasn't glam enough, we're very pleased indeed to be asked to play at the 2010 Southbank Meltdown Festival, this year curated by Richard Thompson. TSMB will be performing on a specially built band-stand in the Clore Ballroom, Royal Festival Hall at 3.45 pm on Sunday 13th of June 2010. The gig is free so please come along if you can! And if you can't make 3.45, we'll also be playing as part of a Balkan night on the "Wilfred", a boat moored near by on Temple Pier, later in the evening. Yo ho ho and a bottle of Thames.

TSMB Open Music Matters at Cargo with Graham Coxon

On March the 24th, TSMB marched through trendy Shoreditch and into Cargo Nightclub to open the launch party of the "Why Music Matters" campaign, and landed up jamming on stage with Graham Coxon of Blur fame and Shingai from the Noisettes, which was so cool it made us all go a bit wiggly. Graham then performed a live guitar score to several films that had been made for the event which was quite a spectacle. More details on why music matters here

TSMB Confirmed for Three Nights at Henley

We are delighted to confirm that we have been booked to play at Henley Festival on the 8th, 9th and 10th of July 2010. With new members Becky and Omer, and lots of new tunes to play you, we can't wait to do our thing at Henley. Watch out Nigel Kennedy we'll be nibbling your ankles, but only gently, and you will probably like it, at least a bit.

Submarine Adventures

We spent an excellent two weeks in August 2009 on another tour of the Balkans, playing in Kotor in Montenegro, and Maglai, Mostar and Sarajevo in Bosnia. The TSMB touring machine delighted and bewildered crowds in equal measure, with a highlight of the tour being an amazing all day boat trip, which sadly ended when we were kicked out of an abandoned Soviet Sumbarine base by the Serbian army, just for having a little barbeque. No sense of humor these military types! Playing a gig and late night party in down-town Sarajevo was also very good! Summer 2010 we plan to go to Cologne and Berlin.

Charity Gig For DOBRO

TSMB will be performing on Tuesday August the 11th 2009 at the Strongroom Bar in Shoreditch. The gig will be a charity fund-raiser for DOBRO, a Bosnian charity we support that helps marginalised groups throughout Bosnia. The excellent Perhaps Contraption will also be playing, and artist Zara Gaze will be unveiling some new artwork. Strongroom Bar, 120 Curtain Road, EC2A 3SQ. Hope to see you there - doors open 6.30

TSMB Summer Tour 09

Following hot on the heels of last year's adventures in Bosnia, Austria and Hungary, this year we are going to Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia, starting August 17th.

Details of gigs in Dubrovnik and Sarajevo to follow!

New Victims! Sorry, members...

Ruairi joins us on Percussion, steaming in from his native Ireland - a fiend of snare, djembe and bodhran alike.

On trombone, the lovely Elizabeth joins us from Paris, to add to Donald / Ludmilla's rumbling tones for a powerhouse of slithering bass ear assault. Or something!

TSMB play The Last Tuesday Society with Michael Nyman, sort of...

We recently played an uproarious gig at the very splendid Last Tuesday Societies Walpurgis Night Hendrick’s Halloween Ball Part 1 at The Bridge, London SE1, located in the mysterious tunnels beneath London Bridge, where none other than famous composer Michael Nyman performed his first ever DJ set!
We think he was perhaps a little surprised when we marched right through the middle of it, but naturally we were in tune and in time... Mr Nyman even mentions Balkan brass bands on his website so obviously we have had an effect on him, hopefully a good one :-)

TSMB at Secret Garden Party and Love Box Festivals

Hot on the heels of Glastonbury, we are continuing our Balkan festival onslaught at London's splendid Lovebox Festival the weekend of 18th July, and also at the excellent Secret Garden Festival, weekend of the 24th of July.
We are most excited!
Don't see us at all three, or you will surely perish from dance based exhaustion!

TSMB play Kinderstransport 70th Anniversary event at
Liverpool Street Station

We were thrilled to be asked to play at "Suitcase" - a special event organised at London's Liverpool Street station on the 2nd of December 2008 to mark 70 years since "Kinderstransport".

Over eighteen months more than 9,500 children were taken on Kindertransport, and rehomed away from Nazi occupied Europe.
Saved from certain death, the majority of the children never saw their homes or family again, and their stories never heard.
The Kindertransport 70th anniversary London plays attempt to put that right, as their stories were relived in this special day of performances.

TSMB provided musical accompaniment to theatre performed throughout the station during the day, our duties included morphing from a traditional english brass band playing Christmas carols into a high speed Klezmer ensemble.
We're playing on the 6th September.
